Ombre Valentine's Day Cupcakes

For the ombre Valentine's Day cupcakes you can use the recipe I used or any other white cupcake recipe you like.

White Cupcake Recipe
Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions:
Start by creaming the sugar & butter in a medium sized bowl. Then beat in eggs, flour, baking powder, vanilla extract, and milk each ingredient at a time in that order. Remember to preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

To get the ombre effect divide your batter evenly in 3 bowls & add food coloring to make each bowl a different tone of red. Start by making the darkest color first then make the next bowl a bit lighter and the last one the lightest. Be sure to make the tone difference noticeable so the colors don't look the same.

Once you have all your tones the way you want them, start by pouring the darkest batter on the bottom of each cupcake liner, then pour the next color into the liner making another layer, and finally pour a next layer with the lightest batter.
Finally put your cupcake trays in the oven for 20-25 min or as long as your recipe calls for. After they are done let them cool off for about 10 min & decorate them as you wish. Enjoy!

Matte Me Crazy Polish by NYC

I recently stopped by Walmart to get some new polishes and I came across this great product. Before buying this I had never used a mattifying nail polish so at first I was a bit skeptical & didn't really think it would work since the price was only $1.72, but this stuff is really good. It really does give the mattified effect; I was pretty amazed when I started putting it on my nails because it dried pretty fast and I actually saw the gloss from my blue nail polish fade. The great thing about this is that it's a top coat and you can therefore mattify any other nail polish you like. Additionally I like that this polish is long lasting and does not chip very easily. So far it has lasted me two weeks and still looks decent. If you're looking for an inexpensive mattifying nail polish then you should certainly try this. I have left the link in the picture!
